ABOUT ME

Shruthi Nattanmai is a first-generation Indian American aunty-in-training from Upstate NY who traded dosas for Doritos to fit in.

But when she attended fashion school in NYC, she learned how devastating conformity could be, especially when it came to a horrendous trend. There, she also discovered that “funny” was a top-grade insult, almost like “you’re so pretty… on the inside”.

Now, Shruthi writes comedies about the cost of assimilation and the people willing to pay it.

She holds an MFA in Writing for Screen and Television from the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts, and a BS in Advertising and Marketing Communications from the Fashion Institute of Technology. In her spare time, she enjoys reading YA novels, playing dress-up, and complaining about the weather.

Shruthi is represented by Maddy Weese at Bellevue Productions.
